Before drones were invented, all you had to do was blast this Kodak Instamatic camera 150 metres into the sky over your house using a DIY rocket launcher.
Once it started to fall, the ingenious mechanism would take a picture that looked a bit like a streetmap, including one exciting pixel which was your expectant, upturned face.
Then you had to scarper inside, fast, so that the plummeting rocket didn’t take a close-up picture of your mouth going ‘Aaagh’. After a short search of all your neighbours’ gardens, it was often possible to retrieve your rocket camera and take it to the chemists to be developed.
